Do Telegram crypto signals actually work? We measured — here's the honest math
Short answer: the advertised numbers are almost always reproducible by a random-number generator, and the one test that would prove otherwise is the one no signal seller publishes. We are a quantitative trading firm — we make money from algorithms, not from selling signals to retail — so we can afford to show you that test, run it on the most-marketed strategies, and hand you the tool to run it on any channel yourself. It takes ten seconds and costs nothing.
The trick behind every "85% win rate"
Any entry rule combined with a stop-loss and a take-profit produces a win rate by construction — even if the entries are chosen by coin-flip. Set a 2% stop and a 4% target and enter at random moments: geometry alone hands you roughly a third of trades as winners. Shrink the target relative to the stop and the win rate "improves" mechanically — an 85% win rate with a tight target and a wide stop can lose money relentlessly while looking brilliant in a screenshot. That is why a channel posting "17 of 20 trades in profit" has told you precisely nothing. The only meaningful question is: does the entry beat random entries with the same stop, target and hold, after fees? Statisticians call this a control. Its absence from every signal channel's marketing is not an oversight — it is the business model.
We ran that test on 24 popular strategies
Our free Reality Check backtester runs the most-marketed retail strategies — RSI oversold bounce, MACD cross, EMA golden cross, Bollinger bounce, order blocks, fair-value gaps, liquidity sweeps, RSI divergence, Parabolic SAR, Heikin-Ashi, double bottoms, buy-the-dip and more — on 90+ days of real 5-minute data across the most liquid crypto perpetuals, with real round-trip fees, each against a random-entry control at identical risk parameters. The standing result, updated live on the page:
Zero of twenty-four beat random entry with statistical significance. Not one. The best performer showed a small positive edge that dissolves inside its own error bars (t < 2 — indistinguishable from luck). These are the exact setups that populate Telegram signal channels and $500–$2,000 trading courses.
The red-flag checklist
- Win rate without sample size. "85% profitable" on 20 trades is noise. Ask for n; silence is an answer.
- Results without fees and slippage. On short trades, round-trip costs eat a third to all of the claimed edge. A report with no cost line is not a report.
- Entries shown after the move. A screenshot with a perfect arrow is published after the pump. Only time-stamped calls made before the move count.
- No random-entry comparison. You now know why.
- ROI that only works with leverage. If the subscription pays for itself only at 10x, the product being sold is your liquidation, on installment.
- The seller earns from subscriptions, not trading. A live account with a public track record — drawdowns included — beats any marketing. Ours is public on the trading page.
How to test a specific channel in ten minutes
Take the channel's last 30–50 time-stamped signals. Write down the rule they approximately follow — "buy the dip", "breakout", "RSI bounce". Open Reality Check, pick the nearest strategy (or assemble your own from conditions in the builder), set the same stop and target the channel uses, and read the verdict against the random control. If the systematic version of the idea cannot beat a coin-flip on 90 days of data, hand-picked signals from the same idea deserve proof, not faith.
What this does not mean
It does not mean profitable trading is impossible — our own two production algorithms survived exactly this bar and trade live on our own capital. It means the profitable stuff does not live where it is being sold for $50 a month. Real edges are rare, narrow, capacity-constrained, and nobody with one retails it in a Telegram channel — the arithmetic of selling it makes no sense when you can simply trade it.
